A true renaissance woman and embodiment of all the elements of hip-hop—this Chicago native has been musically driven for over two decades. A precocious child, she started piano lessons at five, ran her family’s church AV ministry by eight, and picked up the saxophone at ten—later becoming section leader in her high school marching band. But it was at Columbia College Chicago where everything took off. Living and learning in the heart of the city gave her the space to grow, connect, and create. She studied broadcast journalism while hosting parties, open mics, and showcases, building her brand as The Voice of the Streets and launching The Vicki Street Show in 2014—pioneering a lane that bridged television and the podcast world before it became mainstream. During the 2020 lockdown, she turned inward and began writing and performing her own music, releasing her debut EP With Everything Going On in 2022. Now a powerhouse music artist, media personality, event host, and DJ, she leads Jump Street Entertainment—creating opportunities, mentorship, and safe spaces for young creatives through partnerships with the Chicago Urban League and Chicago Housing Authority. Affectionately known to many as the Voice of the Streets, she is your girl, Vicki Street.

Play: Early Roots

From the church pews to center stage, Vicki Street’s rhythm started early and never stopped. A precocious Chicago native, she began piano lessons at five, ran her family’s church AV ministry by eight, and was leading her high school marching band’s saxophone section by sixteen. Those early years laid the foundation for a lifetime of rhythm and leadership through musicianship—a phrase from her band director that would become a personal creed.

Fast Forward: Finding Her Voice

By 2011, Vicki joined the True Star Media program, where she discovered the power of storytelling and on-camera connection. That experience led her to Urban Access TV, where she began interviewing emerging and A-list artists in real time. The guerrilla-style approach to media gave her both grit and grace—helping her refine raw talent into a professional presence that stood out in Chicago’s creative scene.

Record: Building The Brand

Her creative journey accelerated at Columbia College Chicago, where she studied broadcast journalism and launched The Vicki Street Show in 2014—pioneering a lane that bridged television and podcast culture before it became mainstream. Between classes, she hosted open mics, fashion shows, and live events, becoming a central voice in the city’s cultural movement and solidifying her identity as The Voice of the Streets.

Pause + Rewind: The Nonlinear Path

Like any real artist’s journey, Vicki’s success hasn’t followed a straight line. There were pauses, rewinds, and seasons where she questioned the next step—but each setback became a setup for growth. During this reflective period, she became a certified Mental Health First Aider through the National Council for Mental Well-Being, gaining new tools to support others while navigating her own healing. It was also during this time—amid the pandemic’s uncertainty—that she began writing her debut EP, With Everything Going On (2022). What others might’ve seen as stillness, she transformed into self-work, art, and purpose.

Harvest: Growth, Impact & Legacy

In 2021, Vicki founded Jump Street Entertainment, a creative hub bridging music, media, and community. Through partnerships with the Chicago Urban League and Chicago Housing Authority, she’s provided paid opportunities and safe spaces for young creatives to grow. In 2023, she received Columbia College Chicago’s Multimedia Maven Award for her decade-long contributions to music, media, and entertainment.

Her journey continues to prove that you don’t have to leave Chicago to make it—as she often says, “The grass isn’t greener on the other side… it’s green where you water it.”
